* UUSC (Unitarian Universalist Service Committee)
Dear Members and Friends of UUSC Just Democracy –
I’m writing to let you know that Just Democracy's board of directors has voted to suspend the organization's activities. Our parent organization – the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee – believes that a 501 (c)(4) organization like UUSC Just Democracy is an important tool for social justice. The current political and economic climate, however, has compelled UUSC and many other progressive organizations to rethink their strategies for how best to create change. UUSC has decided to take this time to figure how to integrate Just Democracy into UUSC’s program work in order to coordinate more effectively the two organizations’ respective capabilities.
Over the next period, UUSC will scan the environment to identify opportunities where Just Democracy could add value to UUSC's mission and be more financially sustainable. Dick Mark will continue to serve as Just Democracy's Executive Director on a part-time, limited basis to participate in UUSC's ongoing program planning. If you would like to explore future program or funding opportunities with Just Democracy, please contact us. We would be pleased to talk with you about your interests or needs.
During its short tenure, Just Democracy has made substantial contributions to the work of progressive faith activists in New Hampshire. We sincerely thank you for your support and interest and hope that we will be working together again in the not-so-distant future.
Sincerely,
Kathy Partridge
President, UUSC Just Democracy
